- Talyllyn Railway
'You blow the whistle, release the brakes and open the regulator. A hiss of steam and the train starts to move - the start of the journey and the start of an experience of a lifetime'. Accompanied and guided by an experienced Talyllyn Driver, you will take the regulator of one of our famous locomotives from the shed at Tywyn Pendre for either one or two trips to the end of the line at Nant Gwernol and back. - Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways
A fascinating and interesting break in North Wales, this package includes the delights of leisurely trips on two of the UK's premier narrow gauge railways coupled together with the exhilaration of driving a steam train through the beautiful Welsh countryside. Take control of one of our steam locomotives for yourself! If you fancy having a go, then you have two options, a full day driving experience, or an evening experience . If you just fancy getting a driver's eye view then you can ask to ride on the engine footplate of any scheduled service. Further details HERE

Our Driver Experience courses are designed to give you the thrill of being at the controls of a powerful narrow gauge steam locomotive, doing the job for which it was designed. You will be hauling one of our standard train sets along a challenging route that abounds with sharp curves and steep gradients. Further details HERE

Come along for a full days footplate experience including: Preparation of the locomotive of your choice (subject to availability), Driver instruction, Two full return trips down the line (18 miles in total) hauling our train of historic slate wagons, Lunch and refreshment breaks, Accommodation on the train for up to three guests.
